On the Drawing Board – Ukrainian Village Interior Renovation with a Rear Addition
Posted February 18, 2017 at 11:30 am

A new project brings us to the Ukrainian Village of Chicago. This particular project involves the conversion, complete interior renovation, and a rear addition on a classic Ukrainian Village masonry two-flat. The proposed floor plan will require extensive structural modification to achieve the openness desired with many conversion projects. These structural interventions can take the form of new structural  steel beams and columns and/or open web wood trusses.

Rear additions give us a unique opportunity to give these older buildings another persona as they change uses and function in an entirely new way. The front elevation facing the street can maintain all of it’s classic elements while the rear addition can take cues from the original architecture while introducing more modern materials.
