On The Boards: Logan Square Photography Studio

View from open studio to kitchen / prop storage enclosure

7900 SF of open space, this existing bow truss building sat vacant and ready for its next chapter. With the exterior shell in good condition, 34-TEN’s goal is to celebrate this raw 1960s era industrial space while thoughtfully converting the building into a professional photography studio. The south zone of the building is programmed with a commercial grade kitchen, meeting room and large prop storage room with a spacious mezzanine for corporate clients to both relax and engage in the process while the shoot unfolds below. This programming at the south preserves the north zone of the building for uninterrupted studio space, providing photographers with the desired soft, diffused light from the north exposure.

First Floor Plan

New elements to the material palette include black stained plywood cabinetry at the kitchen and polycarbonate panels at the prop storage, welcoming the natural light of the adjacent spaces while still obscuring the view.
