On The Boards: Clock Tower Lofts

View of the carbon steel screen from entry

Clock Tower Lofts was one of the first loft conversions in the neighborhood and a catalyst for much of Bucktown’s development. This local landmark formerly housed an early 20th century men’s clothing maker, Kling Brothers & Company, and you can read more about their fascinating history here.

Our design work centers on improving pedestrian traffic through the lobby. Given the building’s history, we’re drawing on clothing and textiles as sources of inspiration, working the idea of fabric into our design elements. Undulating white oak wainscoting lines the lobby walls while a carbon steel screen with black oxide finish obscures the mail room from the rest of the lobby.
